Too bad, because 'the Native Wife' and I enjoyed Matsuyama for our honeymoon (at which all Japanese yell 'Shibui!').
'Engrish' is enjoyable enough, but as you explain in your linked-to post, not acceptable for a country spending so much, so long, on English. As I often snarl: Japan, get over it. I was one more dubiously effective JET. What shocks me returning fifteen years later is the English level has not improved (though signage has). I could prattle on, but if anyone cares they can read my posts on the same subject.
Ant - Matsuyama's pretty, well, pretty really. The onsen's very nice and those speciality beers the sell near it are really very good. Could do without the cheap plastic Botchan characters everywhere though.
Chris + Will - There is a bit of a 'Spartacus/Lucy Lawless' vibe there, isn't there? It's like an ad for an extremely specialised delivery-health service.
