But can it play the fiddle?

"A Japanese electronics company unveils its £900,000 robot which weighs four tonnes and is 13ft tall. The robot can be controlled by an iPhone and is fitted with a futuristic weapons system, including a gun capable of shooting 6,000 BB bullets a minute, set to fire when the pilot smiles."

Priorities, people. Priorities.

    1. All it's missing is a decent onboard coffee maker. Can't believe they forgot that ;)

    2. Actually, since I'm ideologically opposed to iphones (but not evil gun-toting robots), I'll need to wait for the Android version anyway.

    1. That's kind of reassuring. It means there still might be hope for the otaku kid in one of my classes who ignores everything completely and spends the entire time drawing deathbots.

  3. The MD never caught on outside of Japan. Somehow I think those who greenlit the MD campaign still have a hand in technology and product development...

    1. You mean you don't think there's much of a market for hideously expensive 4m tall killing machines? I reckon the'll have the Russian oligarch sector well sewn up.

  4. Cyberdyne Systems. Skynet ....

    Anyone?

    Life imitating art

THAT would suck in this case

    1. I know. It's like they've never watched a movie, ever.

I for one want to be well out of the country when this thing becomes self-aware, which it inevitably will...

    2. I was thinking more along the lines of the bad one from Robocop.

I think the robot legs for paraplegics was a cool and useful invention but not a killer ... err i mean a fairly helpful robot like this one surely is.

    3. Exactly, it's not like we're short of examples on this score. When it starts addressing everyone as 'Dave' we know we're all in trouble.

  5. Skynet is already here... Skynet Asia.

    And...

Bollywood is already there, from dance to destruction... all in the same flick.

    1. Is it wrong that I liked the SFX in that second link much, much better than the first? What's the opposite of 'special' effect?

From the same movie? I can only assume they blew the entire budget on the CGI intro to the dance and had to do the big fight scene using flickbooks.

    2. Robot was the top Bollywood movie for 2010... it's got everything. The whole movie is over the top. You can dance to it. Laugh to it. Cry to it. An all of the above that knows it is 'camp' and, consequently, out does itself.

(Sound kicks in after the first few minutes. A good background flick to have on the screen... if you like masala)

      Anyway...
