Oh, it's fantastic. Can't believe it's been so long since I last made it. Icing was fairly standard - sugar, melted butter and lemon (juice and zest). The cake's pretty dense, so a bit of sharpness is a nice lift to it.
I've never had date and walnut cake, just loaf. What sort of icing do you use on it?
